Your Treatment, Your Choice

The patient is the most important part of any treatment plan. We listen. Only the patient knows how their condition is affecting them. Then, after a comprehensive clinical evaluation we use our specialist experience to evaluate all of the available options and create a treatment plan.

In doing so, we make sure that all patients understand the underlying problem and the implications and nature of the operation, if required. By being part of the decision making about whether an operation is needed, the patient becomes part of the team, making informed choices for themselves at every stage.

Being Referred to Mr Smith

There are a variety of ways you can obtain treatment:

Appointment / Clinic Locations

Appointments are arranged at the most convenient clinic for the patient at the following locations:

All patients receive an appointment card to confirm the arrangement and maps and directions are also available, if required.

What Happens at Consultation?

The consultation is the time when the surgeon finds out as much detail as possible about the patient’s problems. Allergies, medications and the relevant past medical history are taken note of before a thorough examination is performed. Radiographs are then taken to confirm the findings of the clinical evaluation. Further investigations, such as an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan, may be required prior to evolving a management plan.

Your Treatment Plan

A treatment plan is drawn up with the patient based on the clinical evaluation. Once a plan of management has been formulated, whether non operative or operative, the strategy is explained.

The consequences and complications of orthopaedic care are always discussed in detail before specific questions are fielded by the surgeon about treatment, rehabilitation, different implants, hospital stay, recovery, home, work and recreational activities.

At every stage patients are given as much information as possible about their treatment and this continues throughout their care.

Different Types of Hip Surgery
